PDRN with Microneedling (Polydeoxyribonucleotide Therapy)

PDRN with microneedling is an advanced skin rejuvenation treatment designed to improve skin quality, hydration, elasticity, and overall skin health at a cellular level. PDRN (Polydeoxyribonucleotide) is a biologically active compound derived from purified salmon DNA, widely used in medical and aesthetic practice for its regenerative and reparative properties. When combined with microneedling, PDRN is delivered into the deeper layers of the skin, enhancing absorption and maximising clinical results.

PDRN works by stimulating fibroblast activity, promoting collagen and elastin production, improving tissue repair, and supporting skin regeneration. It also has anti-inflammatory properties and helps strengthen the skin barrier, making it suitable for a wide range of skin concerns, including ageing, dehydration, dullness, acne scarring, and compromised skin.

Treatment Process

The treatment begins with a full consultation and skin assessment to ensure suitability. The skin is thoroughly cleansed and prepared, and a topical numbing cream is applied to minimise discomfort. A medical-grade microneedling device is then used to create controlled micro-channels within the skin. PDRN is applied during the microneedling process, allowing it to penetrate the deeper layers of the skin and activate cellular repair and regeneration. The treatment is carefully tailored to the individual’s skin type and concerns.

Expected Results

Results develop gradually as the skin responds to the regenerative effects of PDRN. Clients may notice improved hydration, smoother texture, enhanced skin tone, increased elasticity, and a healthier, more radiant appearance. Fine lines may appear softened, and overall skin resilience is improved. Initial improvements can be seen within 2–4 weeks, with continued enhancement over the following 8–12 weeks as collagen production increases.

Treatment Course & Longevity

For optimal results, a course of 3–4 treatments spaced 3–4 weeks apart is usually recommended. Results are long-lasting, particularly with maintenance treatments, which may be advised every 3–6 months, depending on individual skin needs and lifestyle factors.

Downtime & Recovery

Downtime is minimal. The skin may appear red, slightly swollen, or feel warm immediately following treatment, similar to mild sunburn. These effects typically subside within 24–72 hours. Mild skin flaking or dryness may occur as the skin renews.

Side Effects & Risks

PDRN with microneedling is generally well tolerated. Common, temporary side effects may include redness, swelling, mild bruising, tenderness, and pinpoint bleeding. Less commonly, prolonged redness, infection, or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation may occur, particularly if aftercare guidance is not followed. As PDRN is a biocompatible substance, the risk of allergic reaction is low.

Contraindications

This treatment may not be suitable for individuals who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have active skin infections or inflammation in the treatment area, have autoimmune skin conditions, are prone to keloid scarring, are undergoing chemotherapy or immunosuppressive therapy, or have a known allergy to fish or salmon-derived products. A full consultation is required prior to treatment.

Aftercare

Following treatment, clients are advised to avoid makeup for 24 hours, excessive heat, sun exposure, saunas, and strenuous exercise for 24–48 hours. Active skincare ingredients such as retinoids and exfoliating acids should be avoided for 5–7 days. Gentle skincare and daily SPF use are recommended to support skin healing and protect results.
